Uncoupling membrane
A thin layer laid between a floor and its tiles so small movements in the floor don't crack the tiles.
It lets the floor underneath move a little without passing the movement into the tiles. Fitters use them over timber floors, young screeds and some heated floors.
It doesn't fix a floor that bounces: a springy floor needs stiffening first.
