Circuit Protective Conductor
The protective (earth) conductor of a circuit, connecting the exposed metalwork it serves back to the main terminal. In normal service it carries nothing; during a fault it carries the fault current that lets the protective device disconnect. Identified by green-and-yellow insulation throughout UK installations.
Taught and practised in the Installation section.
